Opening Doors to Higher Education in Fannin County
At the Fannin County Scholarship Foundation, our mission is simple: no Fannin County High School graduate should be denied access to college because of financial need.
Since 1991, we’ve provided college scholarships for Fannin County High School seniors, helping turn dreams into degrees and goals into lifelong success. With the support of local individuals, businesses, and community members, we’ve awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships—and we’re just getting started.
Who We Are & Our Board
Founded by a group of community-minded volunteers, we are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to increasing access to higher education for Blue Ridge GA students. Every scholarship we provide is powered by people who care—local families, educators, and business leaders who want to invest in the next generation of Fannin County.
In addition to financial support, we proudly recognize academic excellence. Each year, the Top 10 students of Fannin County High School are honored with a gift and their names displayed on a permanent plaque at the school.
We are proud to be led by a dedicated volunteer board who generously donate their time, leadership, and love for the community:

Board Members: William L. Prather, Angela Stewart DeLorme, Jackie Self, Jonathan Lucas Roof, Norman E. Kaye, Richard B. York, Suzanne Davenport, and Glenn Harbison.
The Scholarship Process
Currently, our scholarships are one-time, first-year college grants designed to help students take that all-important first step after graduation. Here’s how it works:
Eligibility & Requirements
- Must be a graduating senior at Fannin County High School
- Must submit a completed application through the school’s guidance office
- Must be accepted by a post-secondary institution
- Scholarship funds are issued as dual-payee checks to the student and the school
How Recipients Are Chosen
Applicants are evaluated by the Fannin County High School Scholarship Selection Committee, which includes two Foundation board members. Recipients are selected through a formal point system based on:
- Economic need
- Academic achievement
- Extracurricular involvement
- Faculty and staff recommendations
How You Can Help
While many Fannin County students receive scholarship support, the need is greater than ever. With your help, we can:
- Expand from one-time awards to multi-year scholarships
- Fund additional college prep tools like SAT prep courses
- Continue recognizing and rewarding academic excellence
There are many ways to contribute—whether through planned giving, named scholarships, memorial donations, matching gifts, or a one-time donation. Every gift directly supports local students and makes a lasting impact right here in Fannin County.
